Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aba) says:
What is the reason why Allah Almighty has so strongly emphasized the recitation of Durood Shareef to the believers? Does the Holy Prophet (saw) need our prayers? No. Rather, He has taught us this method: O My servants, when you come to Me with your needs, when you are present with Me, there is only one way to have your prayers accepted and your needs fulfilled, and that is to reach Me through My beloved Prophet. If you do not adopt this means, then all your worship will go in vain because I have created all this universe for this beloved Prophet of Mine.
